Why I Love Ginger

This root may not be much to look at but it is not to be overlooked.  It has a strong spicy flavour a little can go along way.

You may have heard of ginger tea for cold and flus which is how I first discovered this gem but their are lots of other benefits as well.

Ginger breaks down high-protein food like meat and beans making them more digestible.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds that help reduces swelling and helps the spread of serious illness like Cancer, Heart disease and Alzheimer’s it also helps with pain and soreness from Osteoarthritis

It helps cut cholesterol and lowers lipoprotein levels to alleviate pressure on heart and circulatory system

Ginger works to alleviate nausea, vomiting, motion sickness and morning sickness making it beneficial in pregnancy and during chemotherapy.  It also helps tone the intestinal muscle.

Try drinking ginger tea once a day or add a chunk to your morning smoothie for a zing!

To make fresh ginger tea:  grate about an inch of a root, add boiling water and steep covered for 5 minutes. Strain.  Enjoy! (for a soar throat add a tsp of raw honey for added antibacterial benefits)
