1- Drink lots of water! Water is essential to flush out toxins and keep them moving through the liver and kidneys then out the colon. Most people need more water then they realize so aim for 10 cups a day.
2- Drink detox teas! Dandelion root tea, Burdock root, Nettle teas, ginger with lemon are some great choices for detoxing. They are great for flushing out toxins and are easy to find at your local health food store or local grocery stores. Drink a couple cups a day.
3- Exercise 20-30 minutes a day. Moderate to intense training aids the digestive tract and help with constipation. Exercise also helps to lift your mood. If weather permits go outside and walk or run to benefit from the fresh air as well.
4- Add more fruits and vegetables daily. Eat or juice green leafy vegetables for best nutrients. Try juices of celery, beet and cranberry as they are especially benefical while detoxing.
5- Include more fiber. Fiber helps keep waste moving and make you feel fuller for longer. Raw fruit and vegetables are a great way to add fiber, also incude ground flaxseed, chia seed, nuts and bran. Fiber is bulking so be sure drink lots of water when increasing your fiber intake to avoid constipation.
6- Supplements! Add a great quality probiotic. It will aid in digestion and immunity. Make sure you get your probiotics from the refrigeration section as they contain live cultures.
7- Take a bath with Epsom salts or take a sauna to draw out toxins from the skin.
It’s important to note that while detoxing to avoid fatty meats, deli meats, limit dairy, avoid processed foods, sugary food and drinks.
